Character Info
◎ Character's Name: Akane Tsunemori
◎ Character's Canon: Psycho-Pass
◎ Character's Age: 21
◎ Canon Point: Post-Season 1; prior to the events of Season 2
◎ Background/History: Akane in the Psycho-Pass wiki
◎ Is the character a hacker and/or do they have a sixth-sense? No to both, but she has knowledge in programming.
◎ Personality:
Akane Tsunemori is born naturally skilled in most aspects in life, and is considered by the Sibyl System to have the potential to succeed in any field she choose. And in a country where it's a digital network (ie. the Sibyl System) who dictates what you should do and what you should be, the liberty given to Akane is a very rare feat. But it also gives Akane the biggest problem of her life: finding her purpose. Her other friends only get to make limited choices, while she gets to do whatever she wants because Sibyl provides her with the liberty of doing so. It's why she chooses to join the Ministry of Welfare and Public Safety Bureau (MWPSB) as an Inspector; among the batch who took the aptitude exam with her, she was the only one who received an A-rank for that specific ministry. So, she believes that there's something that only she can do there, and that she'll be able to know what the reason for her being born is.
Her idealism is regarded as a naïvety by some of her colleagues upon joining the MWPSB. In her first case, she shoots an Enforcer because he was going to kill a victim of the crime. She clashes with her senior Inspector because the other wants to do things differently without listening to the Enforcers. Her attempt to search for her purpose in life in the MWPSB is also frowned upon, as most find it insulting that she can talk freely and do whatever she likes. It's her same beliefs - particularly the belief that one shouldn't take another person's life - that help her develop into the strong and independent Inspector she is. She believes that people who have been regarded as Sibyl to be dangerous and useless can be talked down; and they'll be judged again as someone who can be part of society after therapy. This poses a challenge to her multiple times, as her friend gets killed when she had the chance to save her by shooting Shogo Makishima, a high-profile criminal. It happens again that she lets Shogo live when she apprehends him, when she had another chance to kill him.
The harsh reality of her job as an Inspector should have clouded her hue (one of the factors that the Sibyl System uses to gauge if somebody is still useful to society) already, but it's her moral compass and her sense of justice that keeps her grounded. A big part of Akane's character is the fact that she sees the flaws in the Sibyl System, but she continues to protect it because she believes that society will be even worse without it. She can set aside her own disdain for the sake of other people, and it will take a lot out of her to mix personal feelings with her work. In fact, when Sibyl decided to show Akane its true form, she just condoned it; tolereted it for the sake of keeping society the same way it is: peaceful despite it's chaos. Had she reacted differently or decided that she couldn't tolerate Sibyl's actions and its very existence, Japan as a whole would crumble. You could even say that perhaps apart from Sibyl, it's Akane who holds the fate of the Japanese population.
Like any other person, Akane receives many a big disappointment in life, but she gets back up rather quickly. Tragedies such as the death of her best friend only drive her to become a better detective, instead of succumbing to her negative emotions and becoming a latent criminal. It's her ability to accept things as they are that makes her somebody capable of forgiving, rather than hold grudges and look back at the past at all times. And while others live in fear and paranoia of their hues getting cloudy, Akane's steadfastness keeps her from being afraid of dampening her hue.
Akane has a calm demeanour, and is very pleasant and respectful to those around her. She's the type to seek advice from anybody near her, hoping to learn more about other people's perspective on certain things. She has a lot of kindness and patience in her, and it takes a lot to be able to anger her. It's when her beliefs are disregarded without a sign of consideration that ignites her anger, and she can be passionately stubborn and relentless once it happens.
She may not be a blank slate, but with how aimless she believes herself to be, she seeks to find herself through the Inspectors and Enforcers she works for. One of the people she looks up to is the Enforcer (former Inspector) Shin'ya Kogami; his dog-like senses and instinct was just something she was curious and admired. At the same time, she couldn't understand the guy to the point that she tried many times to mimic him or understand how his mind works. Kogami's a big part of how she became who she is now as an Inspector. And then there's Nobuchika Ginoza, her senior Inspector. The two of them butt heads all the time as Akane's point of view regarding Enforcers or how cases should be handled contradict Gino's. Eventually, Ginoza begins to understand why Akane is Akane, and in fact, sees Kogami in her. Shusei Kagari is the Enforcer closest to her age, and he was the first one amongst the Division to question why she's in the MWPSB and the CID. They had a rough start, but eventually, the two of them became friends who shared secrets and gossiped with one another. And it's her talk with Kagari that really made her think about what she is - seriously. Tomomi Masaoka is the eledest amongst the Enforcers Akane works with, and she often seeks advise from him when it comes to understanding Kogami. Often times, she rants about Gino to him as well, but it's Masaoka who puts her back to the ground. His advise are always down to earth, and they help mold her into who she's become - the detective that could possibly mirror Shin'ya Kogami.
A good model Inspector and citizen she may be, Akane starts off still young and inexperienced. She may remain straight faced, but the sight of blood or dismembered bodies makes her uncomfortable. To relieve stress, she plays video games, or talks to her friends about work and rants about her coworkers. Her main instinct is to get along with whom she's with, even going to so far as befriending Enforcers, who are considered garbage to society. She keeps up with the latest fashion, has a penchant for cute and fancy things, and appreciates men's bare features when presented to her. #hot But it's throughout the series that she grows up to be someone respectable, honourable, and more importantly, someone with a clear hue.
◎ Powers/Abilities:
Akane is a human with no supernatural abilities. She is, however, talented at profiling, and has received training in using firearms. She is also capable of conducting first-aid. Her skill set is basically probably a B or n A- in almost every aspect, considering her aptitude in everything is very high.
◎ Weapons & Other Special Inventory:
- Wristcom: something similar to a watch with tablet-like features. it makes use of holograms to project data, and it can also be used as a communicator. it's also capable of scanning people for their Psycho-Pass.
- Compact mirror: again, this compact makes use of holograms. Akane can easily change her clothes by using these holograms, as one of the compact's features is a wide selection of outfits.
- Dominator - the weapon the employees of the MWPSB use. This won't obviously work in Cerealia, but will work in ViViD (mod approved.)
- A lighter and a pack of cigarettes
