[ akane was indeed back to normal, and feeling the side effects intended from the event: total humiliation. the moment she had woken up, her cheeks were so red as everything dawned on her.

at the sound of the doorbell, she immediately puts some clothes on and answers the door. and when she sees kogami, she immediately presses the button to slide the door shut. and from behind the door, she exclaims: ]

K- Kogami! What are you doing here?!

[ He hardly left it. ]

Are you going to open the door?

[ she's a bit too ashamed to open the door, but eventually she has to.

so after a deep breath, she swallows what issues she has and opens the door. ]

[ He's not oblivious to her awkward body language, the lack of eye contact, the tonality in her words... not to mention he's got some things to own up to himself, so he can't blame her for being this way. ]

It looks like you remember everything now.

[ she's trying very hard to be professional here. ]

I do, thankfully. [ she lets out a barely audible groan. ] I've figured out that it was that book I read that caused me to act differently, too.

[ oh god first he sees her half-naked and now he wants to come in. this is fine. THIS IS FINE. akane takes a step to the side, giving space for kogami. ]

When he enters the apartment, he sets the bag of food and coffees on the kitchen counter. ]

How did you deduce that it was the books? [ He knows it's the source, too, but might as well begin comparing notes here. ]

It was CERES who suggested that we all go to the library. That in itself was already suspicious, [ and that was why she went to the library in the first place, to investigate. ] and it was after picking up a book that some people started acting differently.

[abhors]

You would never expect books to hold such a power over us. I imagine Kagari is feeling pretty good about his aversion to literature right about now.

Thankfully we can avoid such things in the future, too, however... this proves that locking our doors does little for our own safety. [ Everyone was pretty much there against their will that night. ]

[condoner]

They do have control of our codes.

[ not to mention, there's the bridge with her crazy magic. but she doubts CERES is capable of magic, too. ]

To what extent, I wonder? They can move us places, but they leave us with free will. Something tells me it's not out of common courtesy.

Makes one wonder if they were using the library promotion as an early beta test, to see how much they can alter our thoughts and personalities.

[condoner]

That may have been possible.

I've learned that they did some beta tests before, as well. People were stuck in the toilet until they finished a game.

[abhors]

[ He's about to bite into his bacon & egg roll until she says that bit. ]

Well... unlike books, everyone uses the water closets. It was brilliant of them, but looks like they played that card too early. [ One thing he did notice about CERES is that they'll never fuck up the same thing twice. Not because of any safety policies, but because they keep trying to catch everyone off-guard with these "events". ]

... Kagari would have liked that one, too. [ The videogame aspect of it, at least. ]

[condoner]

Ah.

[ she gives him a flat look. ]

I suppose, but I think he would've complained a lot about being stuck, too.

[abhors]

Kagari has been confined for a large portion of his life, nobody would blame him. [ He just trusts that the kid would have been the first one to beat the game out of any of them. ]

Have you heard from Gino?

[ she slowly shakes her head.

though to be honest, she'd rather not hear from him at the moment. weird stuff. ]

I guess you haven't either.

You know how we are. He'd sooner tell you about his experience than he would to me.

[ akane looks down at her food, wondering what she should say. it might be difficult to talk about it without revealing the truth about sybil, but she'll try. ]

There was a criminal that Sybil couldn't even identify. If you point a Dominator at him, you wouldn't even get anything. It turns out, he's had so many surgeries and his body parts are from close to two-hundred different people.

That's new. [ The possibility of something like that never even crossed his mind, and yet the part about there being another flaw in the system hardly shocks him. ]

I can't imagine our friend Sibyl being happy about that.

The investigation was definitely very difficult.
